Pool Opening
How much does it cost to open /de-winterize a swimming pool?

Average Cost – Above-Ground $150-$225 | In-Ground $225-$450
The higher price on the inground pool opening is for including a vacuum service too. Please call us early to schedule a pool opening service. We provide partial and full dewinterizing /opening services. This page exists to answer questions about this service. SALE— Promotion: $50.00 discount for new inground pool opening customers and $20.00 off for new above-ground opening customers.

Inground Pool Opening Service Costs We charge $225.00 to open most in-ground swimming pools. With pools larger than 24,000 gallons, we have to charge a little more for opening chemicals.

What’s Included In Our Pool Opening Service? The removal of mesh or solid safety cover, fold and bag the cover, then put it where you want it stored for the summer. The pool is then super-shocked to kill germs and algae. We de-winterize the filter and the pump and assemble as necessary. Also, de-winterize the pool plumbing, removing plugs and installing water directionals. We put in the skimmer basket(s), ladder(s), and handrail(s). Lastly, we will brush the walls when appropriate.
Here’s The Catch – What’s Not Included In Our Basic Pool Opening Service?
·         Removing tarp style pool covers with water bags ($75.00 more)
·         Vacuuming (see description below)
·         Inground floor systems (add $50)
·         hot tub/inground spas (Add $50)
·         Waterfalls (plus $50)
·         Clearing water and debris off pool  cover (additional $50)
·         Balancing chemicals – We “super shock” the pool – But rough balancing is extra on a case by case basis

Premium Service? Vacuuming add-on: It is recommended to vacuum pools with a mesh safety cover upon de-winterizing. For this service, we charge $150.00 to vacuum straight to waste with our equipment. This service pumps dirt and algae directly out of your pool, which keeps the filtration equipment from getting overwhelmed and inefficient. It helps the swimming pool to clear quickly. We dispose of the debris and take it with us.

Vacuuming Service Expectations & Results When you open a swimming pool and can’t see the bottom, as the pool water begins to clear up, you may see small areas we missed with the vacuum and brushes. We do a great job working blindly, and the initial service keeps the filter from becoming overwhelmed, thus allowing the pool to clear. Also, suspended algae in the water will die and fall out, leaving piles of dead algae (looks like dust) on the pool bottom. We offer a follow-up vacuum and cleaning service for $75.00. This service is to come back and polish up the pool once you can see the pool floor deep end.

Inground Pool Opening Service – Here’s The Deal! It cost $225.000 to open most pools and $375.00 for pools that need a vacuum too (most mesh covers). These prices include opening chemicals. We do a comprehensive job and alert you to any concerns we notice while we are there. People love that we tell them about their issues, instead of leaving them to discover problems, and potential problems for themselves.

New In-ground Pool Opening Customers Receive $50.00 Off When we open your swimming pool with a vacuum service, the pool is usually ready to swim in 1-2 days later. All this is providing the pool filter in good working order.

Above Ground Pool Opening Cost It cost $175.00 – $225.00 to open most above ground pools. Most above ground pools have solid covers, so the water underneath the winter cover should be clean.

What’s Included? First, we pump off a little water and remove some leaves to remove the winter cover. The cover is then removed and folded for you. Then We’ll de-winterize your filter and pump and hook them up. Next, install the skimmer basket and the return bulls-eye. We super shock the pool.

What’s Not Included In Pool OpeningAfter the winter, we expect a little water and some leaves on your cover, but we charge extra if we have to take twenty minutes to a half hour or more, to pump water off the cover, and pull the leaves off. Vacuuming the pool is not included in a standard opening service. Also, we do not install ladders for insurance reasons. Finally, it is expected that your pool filter was cleaned when the pool was closed for the season, as such we do not provide this service while opening the pool.
Surprise – Extra Fees To Avoid Nobody likes surprises. If your pool needs additional work we charge $75.00 per half hour. Also, we have a half hour minimum. If we have to come back to vacuum the pool, we will charge a $75.00 service visit, and then $75.00 for the vacuum.

Above-Ground Pool Opening ConclusionMost above-ground pools are opened and running with the necessary chemicals for $165.00 – $225.00. Unless your cover fell in during the winter, or you closed a dirty pool, most above-ground pools will be ready for use in 1-2 days.

Partial Pool Openings Partial opening services have been getting pretty popular over the last few years. If you would like to save $50.00 off the cost of your opening, you just need to remove the cover yourself.

Opening And Cleaning Pools Closed For Over Two Years Or More It’s difficult to put a price on these services, as they usually require multiple visits and many working hours to get clean. We can assess your situation and give you a free estimate based on your case. But I would figure on a $500.00 minimum. This page represents the usual costs of our pool opening services and associated costs. It is not 100% accurate, as we frequently run into missing or broken o-rings, or cracked pump baskets and skimmers. Repairing these things, and dealing with massive pools will cost a bit more. We know nobody likes costly surprises, even if they are relatively cheap.

ESTIMATES: We offer free estimates for pool service, repairs and pool equipment. These estimates will be quoted and saved in our POS system and emailed to clients free of charge.

WORK ORDER DOWN PAYMENT: Any work order totaling $1000 or more requires half down to schedule. The balance is due upon completion of the job. Payment can be made using a credit or debit card with our office, or by check payable to Blue Lagoon Pool and Spa. Cash or Credit/Debit card may be accepted in the office or by the owner(s) directly. Checks are accepted in the field, by mail or in our office/storefront located at 225 S. Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee WA 98801.

Weekly Service & payment Options:
Weekly Maintenance Pool Maintenance Thoroughly cleaning your pool on a weekly basis during the swimming season will ensure clean and safe swimming water.

Skim Off Leaves and Debris
Use a long-handled leaf skimmer to gather up leaves, insects, and any other debris floating on the surface of the pool. Try to remove debris before it sinks to the bottom of your pool where it becomes difficult to remove and may create stains.
Brush
Use a brush to remove dirt that has collected on the sides and bottom of your pool. Brush sediment toward the main drain so it can be easily vacuumed.Vacuum
Submerge your vacuum head and hose, before hooking up the vacuum to the filter.
Clean Skimmer(s)
You should also clean out your skimmer(s) weekly or more often if necessary. Removing debris allows the skimmer to operate at maximum efficiency.
Check Water Circulation
Your pool's circulation system includes the skimmer, pump, pump strainer, drains, and filter. The system helps chemicals work effectively and ensures that water is properly filtered. Run your pump long enough each day to make sure the water is properly filtered and keep each item clean and in good condition.
 Check Filter
The three most popular types of filters - sand, cartridge, and vertical grid DE - screen out debris and particles from your pool water. You should clean and maintain your filter according to the manufacturer's directions.
 Shock
Test your pool water frequently (daily or weekly depending on use) and add chemicals if necessary, following manufacturers' directions. A regular shock treatment cleanses the water of algae, bacteria, dirt, and any other organic matter that may have entered the pool. Follow manufacturer's directions for shock treatments.

SECURITY POLICY: Your payment and personal information is always safe. Our Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read over the internet.

SERVICE CALLS: All service calls from our repair techs scheduled during normal operating hours will include a minimum $80 service call fee. This fee will be rolled into the labor charge for any work order. Service calls performed after hours or on weekends and holidays will be subject to a minimum fee of $175. This fee will be rolled into the labor charge for the emergency repair.

INCLEMENT WEATHER: We will not risk the safety of our team during storms that include lightning, heavy rains, and high winds. For that reason, we expect our maintenance techs to chemically balance their pools under allowable conditions, but we will not allow them to use their metal pole to net, brush or vacuum a pool with lightning in the area. We will not refund or reschedule service for these circumstances as long as the pool was chemically treated. In addition, we do not allow our repair techs perform any electrical work or plumbing in the rain. Repair and equipment work orders will however be rescheduled accordingly. This policy is left up to the professional discretion of our techs.

CLEANING EXPECTATIONS: We expect our techs to clean and chemically test and treat your pool from the the waterline tile where the bottom of your deck coping meets the top of the tile down to the main drain. This includes, testing the water upon arrival, addition of any chemicals necessary to balance the pool, brushing the waterline tile to keep it free of algae, brushing the walls, brushing OR vacuuming the floor of the pool, and skimming the surface. Our tech will empty your skimmer basket weekly and clean your filter and pump basket out at the equipment monthly. The tech is also expected to add or discharge water as needed during his/her visit. A report of services provided and any notes to you will be left on the “blue slip” in a prominent spot for communication to you. You may be asked to add additional water to the pool, wait to swim for a specified amount of time, or call the office regarding an issue. Possible leaks and or equipment issues will be monitored by the tech and turned into the office at the end of their shift to be handled properly. Specialty treatments such as phosphate treatments, stain treatments and black algae treatments or problem pools and clean-ups will be quoted and handled individually outside of the regular weekly service.

CLEAN-UPS: Pools that are overly dirty as a result of screen/cage damage, deck/paver painting, resanding, & sealing, pressure washing, dead animals, animal or human waste, or any unusual circumstance outside the scope of the normal weekly clean, will require a scheduled service call. Work order quotes/costs will apply. TIP: When shopping for and scheduling a pressure wash service, ask if they include cleaning up the mess they send into the pool as part of their quote. Good companies will include that and we have some great contractors we could recommend.

Payment Invoices for pool service are generated monthly on the 1st of each month. These invoices are for the current month of service and are due by the last date of the corresponding month if paying via check or online banking. For those who prefer auto-draft, your credit card will be automatically charged on the 1st of the month when the invoice is generated. Credit card numbers are not physically stored at the office, but are stored electronically within a secure vault. We will not utilize your credit card on file for anything other than regular monthly service without specific authorization for each approved work order. To set up auto-draft, we must obtain a signed credit card authorization form listing your card number. If you card number changes, we require a new signed form. This policy is for your protection and ours.

REFERRALS: Our customers are our best advertisement. So we offer a $20 account credit to any pool or Spa service customer who refers a friend or neighbor within our service area. Once that referral account has signed up and paid for their first month of service, a credit for $20 will be added to your account as a thank you – and there is no limit to this option! Be sure to communicate with our office if your friends sign up so we can properly thank you!  We hope this page helps communicate our expectations for providing excellent service to you, our valued customer while running a responsible, honest, and fair business. If there is ever an issue, a failure or mistake made by one of our team members or ourselves personally, we ask that you reach out to us directly so we can work together to make it right.
